Before I was A Mom

I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests…or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
I got this from a long poem entitled “Before I was a Mom”. Well, it’s written by a mom and is definitely true, but me. Everytime my son has to be taken to the well-baby visit and get some shots, I never looked and couldn’t bear watching him cry while the nurse or doctor pokes him with the injection needle.
I should make my own version of the first line.
Here it goes:
I never held down a screaming child because it hurts me to see him in pain when doctors give him shots - daddy can do the job!
