Scamming In The Name Of God

Long time Internet users are presumed to be familiar with scams online, but there are still a lot who have not encountered one. Sad but true, it is still going on and I have no idea how many people are victimized every single day. Whether you found some website that says this or that and sounds convincing, you better think twice whether to believe in it or not. If it sounds too good to be true, then it is not worth believing.

Most of the times we receive e-mails from senders we don’t have in our contacts’ list and the fact that we don’t even know them personally, we have to be smart about giving our personal information online when the message contains a request to reply with your bank information because it says you won the lottery of a certain semi-million dollars. The sad thing is you never even bought a single lottery ticket in your lifetime and yet you deemed it’s a blessing you’ve been waiting for. A simple yet very important reminder, don’t believe in everything you read or see on your computer screen from certain websites or that you believe in the e-mail you got from you don’t know who really is.

Few days ago, I got an e-mail from this person in the name of Mrs. Annen Joubert. She’s obviously not in my contacts neither that I have heard such name to be familiar and yes, I have not met anyone by that name either. I got the e-mail from this person in my yahoo account which I occasionally get spam mails simply because it’s not my very personal e-mail address anyway. The subject is INHERITANCE and here’s the exact copy of the message.

Dear Beloved,

Glory to God in heaven. My name is Mrs.Annen Joubert from South Africa.
I am married to Mr. Abraham Benjamin Joubert, who is a farmer here in
South Africa for many years before he died in 2004. We were married for
eleven years without a child. He died after a briefillness that lasted
for only four days.

Before his death we were both born again Christians. Since his death I
decided not to re-marry or geta child outside my matrimonial home which
the Bible is against. When my late husband was alive he deposited a
total sum of $10. Million (Ten Million, U.S.Dollars) with bank in Europe.

Presently, this money is still under the safe keeping of the Reserve
Bank Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next Two
months due to my cancer problems. Though what disturbs me most ismy
stroke .Having known my condition, I decided to donate this fund tochurch
or better still a Christian individual that will utilize thismoney the
way I am going to instruct here in. I want a church or God fearing
individual that will use this fund on, orphanages and widows propagating the
word of God and give help to mankind. The Bible made usto understand
that blessed is the hand that grivet.

I took this decision because I don’t have any child that will inherit
this money and my husband relatives are nota good Christians and I don’t
want my husband’shard earned money to be misused by unbelievers. I
don’t want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner.
Hence the reason fortaking this bold decision.

I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I
am going to be in the bosom of the Lord.Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the
lord will fight my case and I shall holdmy peace. I don’t need any
telephone communication in this regard because of my health because of the
presence of my husband’s relatives around me always. I don’t want them to
know about this development.

With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply I’ll
forward your personal information to the bank in Europe so that they
will contact you as the legal owner of this fund before transferring the
fund into your nominated Bank Account in your country. I will also
issue you a letter of a authority that will empower you as the
original-beneficiary of this fund. I want you and the church to always
pray for me
because the lord is my shepherd.

My happiness is that I lived alife of a worthy Christian. Who ever that
wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and truth. Please
always be prayerful all through your any delay in your reply will give me
room in sourcing for a church or Christian individual for this same
purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated here
in. Hoping to hear from you as soonas possible. Please kindly reach me
through this alternative email:mrsjannen@uku.co.uk

Remain blessed in the name of the Lord.
Yours in Christ, Read Hebrews13:15v16 New Living Translation

Mrs.Annen Joubert.

First of all, reading the second paragraph already smells fishy and at that point the scammer is already drop-dead busted even before you could read the 6th paragraph. Well, you can get! To make a long story short, like most of the scam letters a person get or receive through e-mails, the scammer is asking for your bank information. And who on earth would like to share his millions of dollars to strangers through random e-mail addresses should this person be telling the truth? I was motivated to search the name online just to find more information about this person and stumbled on this website that warns people to be careful of the listed e-mails because they are from dangerous criminals. The website has the same copy of the e-mail but it states a different amount of money and a different e-mail address of the sender. The former was dated January 2007 while I got the e-mail January 2008. That means Mrs. Annen Joubert should have been dead months ago (read the 3rd paragraph, please) before others supposed to get more from her. Whoever she or he is, I hope he realizes how wrong this act is.

This is self-explanatory, but the thought of sharing this would somehow reminds us to be careful whenever we receive similar e-mails. The fact that this person inserts verses from the Bible, it sounds to be targeting kind-hearted Catholics and it’s too sad that as a Catholic myself, some ruthless people has to use the name of God to fool others.

I recieved the same email, how pathetic! i recieved a letter from some catholic donazione organization (yeah right) they asked what religion i was, i told them but never sent no money. then i recieve this scam letter a week later. Your right they are targeting Catholics! Like we dont have enough to deal with, all the false stereotypes and judgements from other hypochristian organizations. Want to have fun?? Reply to their first letter telling them that you wont send any money to a western union or courier service. Their second letter to you should guarantee a good laugh

 I am am really sad about this. Boy was I stupid to believe that someone could be that kind as to do something like this legitimately without some type of catch. I was so stupid that I gave them my personal info and a picture . She sounded so real . I dont know what to do now but I want nothing to do with this and it might be too late cause now they have my identity. I would like to turn them over to the authorities , but it is not my battle AS I DONT KONW WHO I AM DEALING WITH . I pray to the Almighty that someone catches these awfull people. I think I will send them a copy of the Google so that they know that I am aware of the monkey business they are up to . Romans 12:19 says Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written VENGENCE IS MINE I WILL REPAY SAITH THE LORD. UNFORTUNATELY I FED HER MY PERSONAL INFO. A LITTLE WORRIED NOW . I will google everything from now on especially from SPAM  Embarrassed
