Fourth Month Well-Baby Visit
Published by kept-posted April 27th, 2007 in Uncategorized. We just got home from the pediatrician for my son Casey’s fourth month well-baby visit. He got 3 shots for the second time as we missed the supposed third month’s visit since we moved to our new place. That makes him a little behind schedule and we have to make up for that the next visit which is in the next two months. He will be four months old tomorrow and he’s really growing well in fact, above average than most babies. He weighs a little over 15 lbs. and 26 inches in length/height - such a big guy for his age. Today, he got DPT, Inactivated Poliovirus and Haemophilus Influenza Type B, Hepa B and Pneumococcal shots - sounds a lot, right? Whatever they are every doctor’s visit breaks my heart especially when he gets a shot because he cries out loud, but I know it’s good for him. I just couldn’t bear looking at the needles poked unto his thighs. This time he got a male pediatrician. The previous was a female doctor and had a little different orientation than the new one as I may say.
As the doctor went through the routine check-up and had us ask questions and other concerns about feedings, diaper change and what not. My dear husband didn’t miss to tell him that Casey has a little bit of eczema. This is not a big deal as the doctor said, the weather and the temperature change affect the skin of some babies. All it needs is a moisturizing lotion anytime his skin feels dry. Other than that, he’s just fine and healthy baby. Oh, the doctor said he probably starts teething as he was checking on his gums. Normally, drooling is one of the signs among babies his age. He gets cranky once in a while and puts everything in his mouth. He may start eating solid food soon if ever his feeding pattern gets erratic or whenever he shows signs of discontentment from mainly breast milk or formula. Some babies has to eat cereal sooner than usual when milk isn’t enough for them - need not wait until they’re six months before introducing baby food. My Casey babbles a lot now, too making all kinds of noise which is a good time for him to learn and gets exposed to all kinds of sounds. Pretty soon he’s going to learn to roll over as he can roll on his side already. Babies are not all the same that’s why it is interesting to see their development.
Welcome to motherhood gyud dae Angie, daghan bitaw tang concerns and worries usahay, but, doctors always say they’re just fine. Most important gyud bitaw is healthy sila, kay lisod basta naa sila health problems ug sige sakit.
Big baby bitaw sya no? It’s very exciting and interesting to see him grow gyud, and sometimes, we also wonder how we manage to do everything as a mom. And we do it really well, Filipina is really one of the best moms in the world and wife too.
