The Phantom Madness

This has been a full week of celebration for both my husband and I. Just last night, we went to the Majestic Theatre to watch The Phantom of the Opera. I’ve seen it in movies and I definitely love the recent one. The original story isn’t as lovely as the new version. The 1943 version in particular which portrays the Phantom as mean disfigured character that makes you want to hate him at the end which is the opposite to the 2004 film that somehow makes you feel sorry and be sympathetic to him in the long run though he also committed a crime. I don’t wanna spoil it for those who have not seen and are not familiar of it. It’s for you to find out.

I realized it evolves as producers and composers try to make the longest running Broadway show more interesting to keep the audience wanting to see it again. I’m pretty sure lots of people keep coming back to watch it. Last night was my first and it was spectacular as we were seated in the front row. That has always been my husband’s promise since I came here. It was his traditional paper anniversary gift: tickets to a Broadway Show as we had our first year in marriage just last August 20th.

It was quite an experience being there as I was at the best spot to witness most of the presentation’s stage effects just like when an explosion of some sort when the phantom made a certain appearance and created a blast of fire that surprised me. The opera that played the music was only a few steps from us which is located under the stage. It made the whole experience heart throbbing. The songs are awesome and the characters played so well and are good singers. You can actually see the saliva comes out of their mouths as they give their best to fully express themselves through the songs. Isn’t that something?

Cameras are allowed inside the theater, but not during the presentation as taking photos with flashes will distract the cast. I managed to take some photos while we were outside the theater and inside it before the play started. (Please excuse for not being a good photographer).
